Izzy Kornblau

Izzy Kornblau, MS, CGC, is a cardiovascular genetic counselor with the Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases and Cardiovascular Genetics Program at the Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital. She is also a PhD candidate in Clinical Research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her clinical and research work focuses on improving the recognition, characterization, and delivery of genetic care for individuals with heritable connective tissue disorders (hCTDs).

Her current work in the Kontorovich Laboratory includes retrospective and prospective studies of dysautonomia-associated hypertension, arrhythmogenic mitral valve prolapse, cardiomyopathy, and other cardiac manifestations of Marfan syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and related conditions. She also led the development of a large hCTD patient registry designed to support translational research and improve the clinical characterization of these disorders. As part of her doctoral research, Izzy is investigating genetic modifiers of aortic dissection risk among individuals with thoracic aortic aneurysm.
